I guess I could give you all the facts and figures, but Habitat has a great web site that can do this . This is our local web page and you can see first hand what we do. Please check out this site and then come on and join in. I would like to tell you about our part and what our members can do to help.
We are one of nine local churches that have come together to make a difference in Simpsonville. We are black, white, old, and young. Baptist, Presbyterian and Methodist. We are one and we are many. We come from all walks of life and we are brought together by a common thread, The love of Christ.
What we do is more then just build a house. We build a home. Once a year in the span of a week with the help of God and a boatload of volunteers we put together a home. It is without a doubt one of the most marvelous and amazing things I have ever been a part of. From the ground up in just a week a home is born.
One of the great things about this yearly project is that you do not have to be a professional to take part. All we need is your desire and we will show you the way. I personally knew nothing about home building 5 years ago, and some might tell you I still don’t, but I would not miss this for the world. Gods love is everywhere on one of our blitz builds and there is no better feeling then to see a child walk into their home and their room for the first time.
We need and want your help. From the foundation to the grass seed there is a spot for everyone. If you have skill great and if you are like me we can always use an extra hand. Please do not be shy. Let me know if you are interested in seeing the hand of God at work and I will be more than happy you sign you up. It will only take a little of your time and rewards are priceless. See me church or e-mail me wcccmb@bellsouth.net for more info.
I look forward to working with each of you this year on another home!
Thanks,
Chip S.
